We are developing a radically-new, instrument-free product for single-cell sequencing with disruptive throughput and experimental ease. We are growing our Cambridge Bioinformatics team to help launch a new era of cellular analysis for research and medicine.


Position Summary 

We are looking for a creative and dynamic individual to join our Bioinformatics team to help develop CS Genetics’ single cell products using new and existing methods for analysing single cell data generated by our R&D team. The ideal candidate will combine experience in using existing genomic data analysis methods with an interest in developing and applying novel analytic methods and statistical frameworks, to help our internal R&D team and external users to understand and interpret the data generated from our technologies. We are looking for a creative programmer who can quickly and effectively implement their ideas in code. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate their work effectively to our broader R&D team for efficient, integrated technology development. In addition, this individual will be routinely interacting with the broader bioinformatics team to facilitate the development of both internal and customer-facing pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform on-demand bespoke computational and Bioinformatics analysis using both existing and novel bioinformatics frameworks
  • Apply and develop statistical methods for single cell data analysis
  • Interact with and support CS Genetics’ R&D team to facilitate technology development by solving problems through data analysis
  • Help develop new bioinformatic tools for single cell genomics that brings the best out of our innovative technologies to scientists and our end-users globally
  • Communicate internally via oral updates, written reports, and technical meetings


Required Skills and Background 

  • Degree in a relevant quantitative discipline (e.g. Computational Biology, Genetics/Genomics, Bioinformatics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a degree in a relevant experimental discipline (e.g. Molecular or Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering) with significant direct academic and/or professional experience in bioinformatics 
  • Proven understanding and experience in high-throughput NGS data analysis
  • Good knowledge of applied statistics
  • Experience programming in high level scripting languages (for example python and/or R)
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills to allow efficient interactions with collaborators
  • Demonstrable good time management and project management skills
